Management of Technology
LSTE 7309, 7310
To facilitate learning, technology should be managed and integrated into instruction through planning with a specific purpose in mind, not just used for its own sake. I believe that using learning theories in conjunction with effective technology integration strategies can target specific needs of learners and increase their motivation to engage in the learning process. When technology is managed in this manner, multimedia instructional tools provide an enhanced learning experience for students, as well as a more effective, and usually more efficient, means of teaching.
To develop a complete system of instruction that is effective and efficient, I first consider the learners both independently and collectively, and what environment they are learning in. Being aware of the learners' prior knowledge of the content being taught, their personal interests and values, and any special needs, allows me to design instruction to meet their individual needs and help them to collaborate with each other. When I know the learners and their environment, I can set specific attainable objectives and choose appropriate assessment methods. Then, I am more apt to notice problems when they arise and see possible technology integration solutions. To determine whether integrating a specific technology will be feasible and effective in certain situations, a technology integration plan is a useful tool. This also promotes reflection and revision which are both essential since technology is constantly evolving and improving, allowing for instruction to ever improve, as well.

Technology’s Impact in Teaching and Learning:
Environment, Assessment, Collaboration, & Individualization
LSTE 7310
This research paper describes how instructional technology has positively impacted teaching and learning in areas such as class environment, assessment techniques, collaboration possibilities, and individualization methods; and discusses how, if current trends remain, technology will continue to shape education in these and other areas in the future
Technology Integration Plan (Guide)
LSTE 7310
I created this TIP guide as a means for educators to determine whether integrating a certain technology into their instruction actually improves teaching and/or learning, or not. It is based on the model presented by Roblyer and Doering (2013) in Integrating Educational Technology Into Teaching (6th edition).
Classroom Technology Integration Plan Example
Irby Dance Studio Technology Integration Report
LSTE 7310
This is an example technology integration plan report that I created by following the TIP Guide above. Using the scenario of a weekly dance studio ballet class, I wrote this report addressing the problem of lack of student motivation by using video technology (tablet) to provide a solution of an engaging method for self-analysis.
School Technology Integration Plan Example
Reach New Heights Elementary Technology Integration Plan, 2014-2017
LSTE 7309
This is a 3-year technology integration plan I wrote for the integration of tablets at a 1:1 student device ratio at the hypothetical Reach New Heights Elementary to support Common Core State Standards through instruction, learning, and assessment, and also to promote overall student digital literacy. The plan also includes a classroom floor plan, hardware & software evaluation checklists, integration timeline., and projected budget.

I created this diagram as a demonstration of the planning process for the implementation of a certain technology (web portal) as requested by an administrator to incorporate into the school technology integration plan.
